CBM & container loading calculator.
Enter your carton size, weight and quantity to get total volume (CBM), total weight, and which standard container the load fits in. Many shipments run out of weight before they run out of space — the tool flags whichever limit you hit first.

Standard container capacities
| Container | Internal dimensions (L × W × H) | Max volume (CBM) | Practical volume (CBM) | Max payload (kg) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 20ft Standard | 5.90 × 2.35 × 2.39 m | 33.2 | 28 | 28,200 |
| 40ft Standard | 12.03 × 2.35 × 2.39 m | 67.7 | 58 | 26,700 |
| 40ft High Cube | 12.03 × 2.35 × 2.69 m | 76.3 | 68 | 26,500 |
Practical volume allows for pallet gaps and stacking loss; utilization and best-fit are calculated against it. Actual payload limits can be lower on some road/rail legs — confirm with your carrier.
Results are estimates based on the figures you enter and standard container and pallet capacities. Pallet-position figures are standard single-tier loading estimates and don't account for irregular or non-stackable cargo, mixed carton sizes, pallet overhang or unusual carton shapes. Real loadable volume and payload vary with packaging, pallet configuration and carrier limits. Confirm final loading plans with your freight forwarder.
